    Capturing eclipses in 360

In 2017 Steven was awarded a travelling fellowship to travel to the US and film an eclipse with 360 cameras, in a stadium with 20,000 other people. He has replicated this with other total eclipses and is now an unashamed eclipse chaser. This talk highlights the excitement, awe and thrill of totality. This immersive journey can be viewed in VR headsets and also in Steven's mobile dome.

Losing the Cosmos (light pollution & dark skies)

Steven is a Dark Sky Advocate and has helped communities around Scotland to protect and promote their dark skies. The UK is on the very edge of Europe and we still have some amazing dark skies but we are losing the battle against light pollution. In this talk learn how we can all make a difference and help protect our skies for future generations. Steve recently helped the community on the Isle of Rum attain 'Dark Sky Sanctuary' status, only the second place in Europe to be given the highest designation in the world for having exceptional skies. Other highlights in this talk include, taking unpaid carers on respite breaks to dark sky locations, promoting astro-tourism and astrophotography under exceptionally dark skies.

    Epic Astrophotography Fails

Marvel at a little mushy red ball (Mars.... maybe?), be amazed at an out-of-focus timelapse and look in awe at foggy auroras and other (not so) stunning astronomical images. Behind every good astro image, there are hours of trials and tribulations and even some scary moments (eeck). In this talk Steven will help you avoid some of these pitfalls and get you on the right track to take your very own epic astrophotography images.
