Full biography
I'm a solar astrophysicist, author and award winning science communicator, currently working at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) in Boulder, Colorado. This means that, although a UK native, I am currently living and working outside the UK in the USA for a few years.
I am working to pursue the mysteries of the Sun at the forefront of modern solar physics research, using cutting edge telescopes on the ground and in space. In particular, my research investigates explosive events called solar flares on the Sun, which are a key component of "Space Weather" here at Earth.
In addition to my scientific work, I strive to share the wonders of the Sun, space and eclipses with the public through popular astronomy books, social media (100k+ followers across platforms), public talks, and in interviews on television and radio. My popular astronomy books include "Space Hazards", "Little Book of Eclipses" and "Cosmic Light". I am also an expert on astronomical events, including eclipses, northern lights and solar storms.
