Russell provides entertaining and captivating presentations on subjects such as the Appley Bridge Meteorite.

Full biography

Russell has had a keen interest in Astronomy and History since his childhood.

He is author or the Appley Bridge Meteorite book published in 2014 to coincide with the 100-year anniversary of the event.

Russell moved from his home town of Shrewsbury in Shropshire to the village of Appley Bridge in the North West of England in the early 1990’s and discovered the fascinating story of the 1914 meteorite strike on the village.

Russell has subsequently presented his talk for many astronomical societies, groups, museums, events and festivals over the years including on transatlantic crossings & cruises on Queen Mary 2 and in New York at the American Museum of Natural History.

The story of the Appley Bridge meteorite has also been featured on several TV and radio programs and in September 2023 Russell’s 3 episode radio play was first broadcast on BBC radio.

Russell also presents talks on various other space related / historical topics including the Barwell Meteorite, Space Food, Growing Food in Space and Moon Trees.

Russell is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and has won many national awards over the years for his training and entrepreneurship.

Stargazing sessions

Mr Russell Parry can host stargazing sessions including guided tours of the night skies and observing using telescopes or binoculars.
