Rita – Astronomer & Science Communicator
Rita is an astronomer and science communicator based at Battlesteads Observatory, where she leads astronomy courses and stargazing events both on-site and at various locations. Her journey with the observatory began a decade ago as a volunteer, and in 2023, she returned as a lead astronomer.
Currently pursuing a degree in astronomy and planetary science, Rita is particularly fascinated by stellar evolution, colliding galaxies, supernovae and exoplanets—topics that shape her public talks and outreach work.
As a speaker, Rita brings astronomy to life through interactive presentations, hands-on workshops, and engaging storytelling. Her ability to break down complex cosmic phenomena ensures that audiences—whether beginners or experts—connect with the wonders of the universe. With experience in both local and global outreach, she inspires curiosity and deepens public understanding of space science.
