Full biography
Engineer Qamar Uddin is an electronics engineering graduate who has worked as a hardware and software design engineer for over 24 years in the scientific research/computing industry before changing careers to become a high school teacher since 2013 (after completing a PGCE training course with QTS).
He joined the York Astronomical Society in 2007 to develop his practical astronomy experience. He manages a network of crescent moon watch volunteers across the country, relating to the Islamic Calendar for the UK (including the dates of Ramadan and Eid). He also provides training for the crescent moon watch when the moon can be seen according to the visibility data provided by HMNAO (see yorkastro.org.uk/crescent-moon-watch/).
