Martin is an experienced astronomer, night sky guide and teacher.

Full biography

Martin has been interested in astronomy from a young age. Currently he is the Director of the Brecon Beacons Observatory, a public educational resource in the Brecon Beacons National Park and an Astronomer and Science Presenter for Dark Sky Wales. He is a Dark Sky Ambassador for the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Martin has taught astronomy for over 30 years and developed adult education programmes for Swansea University and taught undergraduate Astronomy at the University of South Wales and the University of the Heads of the Valleys Initiative.

He was a founder member of NASA's Astrobiology Institute Science Communication Group, active between 2003-2006 and managed a multi-million pound ESF programme in Astrobiology for adult learners between 2003-2008.

Martin has written and presented planetarium programmes for key stages 1, 2 and 3 and has been an adviser to several museum projects on the interface between science and science fiction

Stargazing sessions

Mr Martin Griffiths can host stargazing sessions including guided tours of the night skies and observing using telescopes or binoculars.
