Full biography
Lord is an astronomer at the University of Hertfordshire's Bayfordbury Observatory, where he is involved in the day-to-day (or night-to-night) running of what is the UK's best teaching observatory.
For this PhD, Lord is researching how non-gravitational forces affect near-Earth asteroids. He has observed with some of the world's largest telescopes, and uses a mix of optical and radar observations to characterise asteroids and develop 3D models of them.
Alongside his studies, Lord has accumulated over ten years of experience in astronomy outreach. He has worked on hundreds of events, run his own outreach programmes, and been a lead presenter for the UK's largest mobile planetarium.
