Full biography

Lord works in space situational awareness, using optical systems to track satellites and debris to support space safety.

He previously worked at the University of Hertfordshire's Bayfordbury Observatory, where he was involved in the day-to-day (or night-to-night) running of the observatory.

For this PhD, Lord researched how non-gravitational forces affect near-Earth asteroids. He has observed with some of the world's largest telescopes, and used a mix of optical and radar observations to characterise asteroids and develop 3D models of them.

Alongside his studies, Lord has accumulated over ten years of experience in astronomy outreach. He has worked on hundreds of events, run his own outreach programmes, and been a lead presenter for the UK's largest mobile planetarium.
