Full biography
John Veitch is a lecturer at the University of Glasgow teaching Physics and Astrophysics. He has been a researcher in gravitational wave astronomy for over 20 years, and is a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration that analyses data from the LIGO, Virgo and KAGRA Gravitational Wave detectors. He is interested in black holes and neutron stars as laboratories for testing theories including Einstein's gravity, as well as for what they can teach us about the populations of massive stars. John has given outreach talks to groups from ages 8 - 80 including visits to the University Observatory as well as participation in science festivals, and visits to Astronomical Societies.
