Full biography
I am a Chartered Surveyor who turned to amateur astronomy on the 13th June 1994 when I observed an extraordinary event at the moon as it was struck by three fragments of an asteroid. This gave me aperture fever and I now have a state of the art observatory with Ash Dome and 16" Ritchey Chretein reflector Telescope. My talk covers the Deep Space images acquired with this equipment, the achievements of some brilliant British amateur astronomers and touches on recent advances in professional astronomy, with humour.
Lectures
The Crendon Observatory
My talk concerns the deep space imaging operation of the Crendon Observatory with a 16" RCOS telescope, an overview of the exploits of some extremely talented UK amateur astronomers together with a sprinkling of recent professional astronomical achievements.
