Full biography
Emma has nearly 15 years of experience in amateur astronomy and has a PhD in astrophysics. Her astrophysics research centers on radio astronomy, with a particular focus on Galactic filaments, astrophysical magnetism, and radio galaxies. She is currently a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds, and is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
As an experienced science communicator, she has appeared on TV and Radio (e.g. BBC Breakfast and Radio 5 Live), and believes that astronomy is for everyone. Her favourite observing challenge is to spot the young crescent Moon at sunset. Whilst her day job mostly consists of programming and data analysis, she is no stranger to the night sky — and tries to get out and stargaze when she can.
Stargazing sessions
Dr Emma Alexander can host stargazing sessions including guided tours of the night skies and observing using telescopes or binoculars.
