Benjamin Gompertz is an Associate Professor of Astrophysics in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Birmingham.
Ben's research focuses on some of the most extreme and short-lived phenomena in the universe, including gamma-ray bursts, kilonovae, and other cosmic explosions associated with neutron star and black hole mergers.
Ben is particularly known for his work in multi-messenger astronomy, which combines electromagnetic observations with gravitational-wave data to understand how these violent events unfold.
