Summary
I'm a former research physicist and an experienced amateur photographer who has had some success in photographing meteors.
Full biography
B.Sc. in Natural Philosophy from Glasgow University, 1975.
Phd. in Physics from Imperial College, London, 1980.
Worked at CERN, Geneva, for about 8 years, initially as a CERN Fellow, later employed by the Max Planck Institute, Munich.
Left research and worked in various IT roles for several organisations in Banking and Telecoms.
Now retired.
Lectures
My experiences as a Meteor Hunter
After watching the Perseids in August 2024 I set out to try to get some good photographs of meteors using ordinary photographic equipment, despite living in an area with strong light pollution. Because I'm an artist as well as a scientist, the aesthetic aspects were important to me. The lecture follows my trials and tribulations, and the discoveries I made on the toad to success.
